Help us discern ways to help our community

Nate, Zach and Colin Borgstrom volunteer at the Firewood Initiative woodlot in 2018.

A committee at Saint James’ is exploring four areas in which our church might be able to help people in our community:

  1. Food preparation and delivery — meals for places like Rip Van Winkle Motel, Moffett Manor, the shelter, etc.

  2. Transportation and companionship — helping seniors or the disabled get around, visiting them, and offering companionship or guidance around things like scams or tech support.

  3. Advocacy around access in Warrenton — for example, conducting a Complete Streets assessment.

  4. Project-based work — assisting older adults with trash collection, yardwork, ramps, and similar efforts.

We already do quite a bit (volunteers for the Firewood Initiative, meals for the Fauquier Free Clinic, etc.), but we’d like to know if there’s capacity and enthusiasm for expanding into any of these areas.
