Adult formation in July: Discussing ‘Magnificent Humanity’
Bishop Ted will lead a discussion on Pope Leo’s recent encyclical, “Magnificent Humanity,” in the Reception Room each Sunday in July from 9:15 to 10 a.m. There is no sign-up or prior reading required to participate.
Leo’s encyclical reflects on the Christian response to the age of artificial intelligence, and the “pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together.”
As the Rev. Oliver Nwagbara writes, “You might not be a theologian. You might not read Vatican documents. But if you own a smartphone, use social media, worry about your future, care about injustice, or are simply trying to live your faith in a world that feels increasingly confusing and inhuman, this encyclical was written for you. … The pope asks us to resist the slow drift toward a world where efficiency replaces compassion, where data replaces dignity, and where the logic of profit replaces the logic of love.”
