From SJES: Celebrating milestones and new beginnings

From Saint James’ Episcopal School

Fifth graders at the Follow Me ceremony on May 20.

May is always one of the most joyful and memorable months at Saint James’ Episcopal School. From watching our brave and creative elementary students take the stage during the talent show to celebrating beloved traditions like the preschool Mothers’ Day tea, this season is packed with special celebrations, proud accomplishments, and moments our students and families will remember for years to come. We honor our pre-kindergarten and fifth-grade graduates, celebrate our elementary students as they move up to the next grade, and proudly welcome back our alumni graduating high school for the annual alumni parade as they walk the halls of Saint James’ in their caps and gowns — a beautiful full-circle moment for our school community.

This time of year also gives us the opportunity to reflect on the many experiences that made this school year so special. Our Yearbook Club proudly produced its second wonderful yearbook, capturing the moments, friendships, traditions, and everyday memories that make Saint James’ such a unique community. We have also been inspired by our fifth-grade students and their capstone service projects, which reflected both their individual passions and their desire to make a difference. From supporting local organizations and helping animals in need to promoting literacy, environmental stewardship, teamwork, and care for others, these projects showcased the compassion, leadership, and creativity our students have developed during their time at Saint James’.

As the school year comes to a close, we say goodbye to our students and teachers for the summer but hello to our summer campers! Saint James’ Summer Camps began last month and run through mid-August, and we still have space available in select camps. To learn more or register, click here.

Enrollment for the 2026-27 school year remains open until classes are full, with limited availability remaining in select programs. If you or someone you know is interested in joining the Saint James’ community, we encourage you to reach out! We continue to offer tours throughout the summer. Please call 540-347-3855 or email admission@saintjamesepiscopalschool.org for more information.

We’re also hiring! To learn more about employment opportunities and becoming part of the SJES team, click here.

As another school year comes to a close, thank you to our parish family for your continued support, encouragement and prayers throughout the year. We are grateful for our shared partnership and look forward to all that the year ahead will bring.

Finally, please note that the School will be closed June 30 through July 11 as our administrative team steps away for some summer rest and renewal. Wishing everyone a safe, joyful and happy summer!
