The Aileen ‘Ninie’ Laing Education Fund

Aileen “Ninie” Laing

Saint James’ Episcopal School is deeply honored to be the beneficiary of the Aileen “Ninie” Laing Education Fund, established by her family in loving memory of Dr. Aileen Hyland Laing, who passed away Oct. 22.

Ninie’s connection to Saint James’ began as a student at The Calvert School, once located on the grounds of Saint James’ Episcopal Church. Years later, she helped establish our elementary program and remained a huge supporter of the growth development of the school. A lifelong educator, Ninie taught art history at Sweet Briar College for 30 years and was a devoted member of Saint James’ Church.

The fund will provide need-based tuition assistance to children whose families might not otherwise be able to afford a Saint James’ School education. Through this fund, Ninie’s legacy will live on in future generations of Saint James’ students, opening the doors of a school she helped shape to children who will benefit from the same nurturing, faith-filled environment and educational foundation she valued so deeply.
