Education for Ministry (EfM) is a small group Adult Formation program developed by the School of Theology at Sewanee. Our Saint James Group has been actively growing together in community, as we each develop our discernment of God's work in our lives, and our responses to this discernment. We study and discuss scripture and Judeo Christian Tradition/History along with companion texts, and learn to reflect on God's work in our world, and lives, using a creative and intentional theological process.

We are currently a group of eight "seekers" and are wrapping up our current curricular year. We will resume our gatherings for a new year of study and reflections in September, 2023 and are inviting new participants to join us this Fall. Our group can include up to 12 participants. Group participants are always at different levels of Christian Formation backgrounds and no preparatory work is necessary to join the group. Membership at Saint James is not a requirement, nor is an Episcopal Church faith tradition. All interested persons will be offered an informational session prior to registration to make sure that this particular faith exploration is a good fit for you.

We meet each Wednesday from 9:15 AM to 11:45 AM, in person. at Saint James Church (although Zoom can be used on occasion when someone can't make the trip to church in a particular week), for a total of 36 weeks. There is a tuition cost of $325 to pay for the prepared curriculum, plus approximately $50 for books. Scholarship funds are available for persons with limited resources.
