Calling All Bakers (and other helpers)
St. James' is organizing a muffin drive to supply freshly baked corn bread muffins
for the Easter food baskets distributed to local needy families by FISH. We will be
baking approximately 40 dozen muffins on the morning of Saturday, April 4th to be
distributed by FISH later that day. Bakers and other helpers are needed starting at
7:00 am and throughout the morning. Tasks will include mixing, baking, bagging and
tagging, as well as cleaning up the Parish Hall for the Sunday cafe setup. We
expect to be done by 1200 noon on Saturday, but only if we can get a lot of
volunteers to help. We completed a similar bread-making drive last November that
was very successful and many member of the Parish have asked when we can do
this again. Well, here's your chance! To sign up to help with this important outreach
ministry, please contact Colin or Debbi Borgstrom at theborg20115@verizon.net or
call 540-351-0113.
Food Bank Volunteers Needed
St. James Episcopal Church signed up to sponsor the April 18th Food Distribution
at the Methodist Church behind Pizza Hut from 8:30am to 1200 noon. As sponsor,
the main job is to have volunteers at the Saturday distribution; it takes about 25-35
people, and there are workers who help regularly so if St. James can provide 10-20
volunteers, that would be great. On the third Wednesday 4/15 or Thursday 4/16,
volunteers are needed to unload the truck with USDA Food purchased from the
government. This is usually during the day between 9:00 am and 2:00pm and
requires 6 to 10 helpers. Finally, sponsors bring in the special give away items for
the month. April's items are pots, pans, dishes and suitcases. A collection box will
be available on Sunday's by the bulletin board. Please let us know if you can
participate.
